- Tell us a bit about yourself ?

My performing name is Mr Heaphy. I am a self contracted circus and performing artist born, bred and based in Christchurch.

- What's your specialty?

I am specialized in Stilt Walking, Trapeze and Sideshow while having some experience in a variety of other circus disciplines. My specialty performing type is roving entertainment and 5-10min stage acts

- Whats your point of difference, your edge in this industry?

My point of difference is my roving entertainment skills, along with tertiary qualifications in circus and theatre.

- How long have you been in this industry?

I have been a professional performer since 2010 when I finished circus school.

- What got you into this industry/your entertainment business?

Though I don't offer Children's Parties specifically, I do offer roving  and entertainment options for medium to large scale children's events and family friendly events

- How did you come up with your business name? Funny story behind that?

Well it's funny you ask... The name Mr Heaphy occurred because my first name is Dan which is extremely common. To help identify me, everyone called me by my last name (Heaphy). So adding the Mr just made sense. It's also fun to say!

- What are your goals for the future?

My goals for the future are to remain in Christchurch and continue entertaining people all around New Zealand.

- What's your number one tip for people wanting to get into this industry?

Feed your passion: To Live it, you must Breathe it

- What's your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is seeing someone's world light up when they see me.

- What's your least favourite part of this job?

Definitely the paperwork! No doubt about that.

Extended Bio:

My name is Mr Heaphy and I am born, bred and based in Christchurch. After completing a Level 6 Diploma in Circus Arts at Circoarts CPIT, I entered the professional world of performing arts in 2010. When the earthquakes hit, I grounded myself in the rubble and promised to stay and use my skills to help relieve pressure. I helped start up a brand new childrens and adults circus school, put on and performed in cabaret/vaudeville shows. Circa 2015, I studied a Diploma in Theatre at Hagley Theatre Company to expand my knowledge and skills in character work, directing, prop/set building and sound/lighting tech. My specialties include Acrobatic Stilt Walking, Character work, Trapeze and Sideshow. Though I am not available for childrens parties, I am available for medium to large scale childrens and family friendly events with Roving Entertainment and 5-10min Stage Acts.
